How to work out how many pavers you need
- Measure the area in feet and multiply length by width.
- Add 10 percent for cuts. Covers cuts at edges and around curves, plus breakage. Herringbone cuts more than a running bond.
- Divide by what one 4 in x 8 in paver covers, and round up. Suppliers do not sell part units.

What goes underneath
Paver sits on layers that are ordered separately and by volume, not by the piece. Running short on the base is the failure that shows two winters later.
- Road base at 51 to 76mm. Earth Stone Rock: 2 to 3 inches for paths and patios.
- Paver sand at 25 to 50mm. Quikrete: spread Patio Paver Sand to a depth of 1 to 2 inches over the compacted base.
